Haddington House
Dun Laoghaire, Dublin

Having built up an avid following of diners in Oliveto restaurant on the promenade in Dun Laoghaire, David (Fla) Larkin took over the running of the former Kingston Hotel and moved Oliveto into its ground floor. With an unrivalled seafront location, the hotel is made up of a collection of Victorian townhouses overlooking Dun Laoghaire’s East Pier with its own generous garden to capture the evening sun.

We worked very closely with Haddington House to align the interior with the expectations of its new client base. The function room with a tired carpet was transformed with crisp white wall panelling, dark oak floor and black metal doors to the smoking room: The lobby got a discrete desk, a dispense bar, ample seating to create an atmosphere along with an open fire and quirky cool artwork. The restaurant got new seating, a new pizza oven, a reception desk and waiter stations aswell as smart dark panelling in the private dining area.
Upstairs we tailored room designs depending on the aspect and the size of the room. Quirky small rooms with inner courtyard views were made extra cozy whilst the sea view rooms sold themselves with the introduction of soft limed oak walls.

As Architects and Designers, we did Section 5 and Planning Applications for the Protected Structure for works to the ground floor including a garage bar, grand designs to reintroduce a mezzanine level over the restaurant and designed a pavilion for the garden.
