Who We Are

What we do

We love to create beautiful, functional spaces.
We are energised by the process of collaboration.
We love when our clients’ expectations are surpassed.

Ever curious, we absorb inspiration from our cycle to work, a tv show, a magazine or a foreign trip.
We observe how different lights create different moods.
We delight in how people act differently in different spaces.
We listen carefully to our client’s brief, timescale and budget.

We research widely and often outside the box.
We collaborate with consultants and experts to maximise the result for our client.
We commit our thoughts to paper and screen, and pull and push to get it right.
We steer the project through its twists and turns to a successful completion.

Who we are

At GW Design we are a dynamic group of design-led architects and designers working together with a shared ambition to bring about the best possible outcome for each client and each project. We work out of Blackrock in South Dublin with projects all over Ireland and in the UK. Projects vary from a small house extension or café refurbishment to a full hotel. We move seamlessly from Architecture to Interiors. Regardless of the scale of the project or the sector we work in, we work with the client to understand their business and their aspirations for the project. We share a love of a classic and timeless aesthetic but bring to each project its own personality, its own joy.

Grainne Weber is an Architect, a graduate of UCD and a member of the RIAI. She set up GWDesign as Grainne Weber Architects in 2006 following 3 years with Studio 11 Architects, 6 years with Douglas Wallace and 18 months in-house with developer Hugh O Regan. Because of her many years working on the Morrison Hotel and with developer Hugh O Regan, much of the work has been in the hospitality sector, with many clients from these early days still clients today. Through the years her ability to maximise the potential for clients has seen her transform spaces and increase profitability for clients across a wide spectrum of sectors.

Louise Finlayson is an Architect with a particular interest in detail. From the Wilder to the Dylan and most recently in Mink, Ballsbridge, Louise’s keen eye and attention to detail is key to driving a classic aesthetic within GWDesign.

Claire O Sullivan joined GWDesign from UCD Architecture and seemed to have an innate ability to both understand site conditions and to communicate. With a keen interest in a simple architectural aesthetic, we look forward to realising her designs for the Boathouse and Baggot Street mixed use.

Elaine Hastings graduated as an Architect from DIT, subsequently doing a Diploma in Interior Design in Blackrock College of Further Education. Now her energy and enthusiasm can be seen across the board in both architecture and interiors from Tallaght Plaza Hotel interiors to houses in Rathgar and Wicklow.

Janine Feirtear initially graduated with an Interiors Degree from DIT but has recently qualified as an Architect through the RIAI. Her methodical nature, rigour and knowledge of regulations has brought an invaluable skill set to GWDesign.
